This iconic CCCP/ USSR 60’s Space Race Memorabilia is becoming rare and highly collectable. This desktop Vostok rocket is dated 12 - IV- 1961 was made at the begging of Russia’s Space Program.
Vostok 1 was launched on April 12, 1961. The flight took Yuri Gagarin, a cosmonaut from the Soviet Union, into space. The flight marked the first time that a human entered outer space, as well as the first orbital flight of a manned vehicle. Vostok 1 was launched by the Soviet Space Program, and was designed by Soviet engineers guided by Sergei Korolev.
This desktop figurine comes from the same design series as the Sputnik Music Box. It was intended to accompany the Sputnik as a matching pair. Russian word ‘Mir, meaning Peace is displayed across the stem. One side of the rocket, displays in red CCCP and the other Vostok.
It is offered in very good used vintage condition. (See image)
