Luigi Colani, the Berlin-born designer was commissioned in 1963 to design this adorable ‘Drumbo’ money box for Dresdner Bank. Colani was renowned for his dynamic yet quirky organic furniture and industrial design. High profile commissions include Alfa-Romeo, Lancia, Volkswagen, BMW, Villeroy and Boch, Boeing, Rosenthal and NASA.

This design came at a time when colourful plastics were beginning to enter the homes (with Verner Panton’s plastic chair launching just three years earlier), these little toys must’ve been extremely exciting for a child to get their hands on. Our ‘Drumbo’ comes with an original Dresdner Bank stamp and it’s offered in good vintage used condition.

The way this smaller version was deigned, you have to smash it open!
